Your words are wonderful! Your poem is so full of everyday reality pathos, patience, and LOVE. I smiled with my heart. My John is just like you (but not nearly so good with words!).

I tried to leave a comment on your Good Samaritan parable article, but I got a strange "failed" note. So I will try to leave it here: It appears, from your wonderful Good Samaritan parable story, that you have another tremendously impacting book to write, possibly from the viewpoint of the young apostle who laid his head on Jesus' breast at the last supper. You have a supernatural ability to convey your deep spiritual insights with descriptive words. That is God's gift to you and enables your gift to all of us.

I was raised Catholic and struggled for years to understand the mystery of the Holy Trinity. The images of a trefoil or three interlocking circles just didn't help me get it. Corrie Ten Boom (author of the Hiding Place) finally made it clear to me with her wonderful explanation of the Trinity as a light bulb. The Power that lights the light bulb is God; the visible form that the light bulb takes is The Son; the outgoing rays of light, which is the work of the light bulb, is the Holy Spirit. These are the three inseparable but distinct, individual Persons contained in the One God. So clear. Now, your book, The Shack, has givem them all their own names and personalities for my prayers. My spirit bursts with happiness to have very personal names for these dearest of persons. Thank you for that, too.

I will be waiting and watching for John's story about his years with Jesus.

A friend in a Bible Study group put me onto reading The Shack and I will be forever in gratitude to her. You, Wm PAUL Young are a fruitful writer who has huge heart and you have reached out in true fiction or fiction made of truth... whatever it is to be called as history records The Shack ... to touch so many by wanting to touch your own. The lives that are so special to you, so true are the words "if anything matters everything matters". What a tremendous difference you, one person who stepped up to make a present for his kids... amen what an awesome vehicle! If my friend, Debbie who works in Clackamas and lives in Camus comes across this comment ... Read Wm Paul Youngs book and your life will be forever changed, it is so full of truth.

I have a husband who is quite patient; in fact he would rather shop with and for me than for himself. (His taste is very good). Also, I now work at a JC Penney store and am awed by the ardor and tenderness I saw in several men as they picked out Christmas gifts for their wives, seeking opinions and being so deliberate and careful in their choices. Our culture of the last 40 years has sought to denigrate males to the extent of Neanderthals. We, as a society, need to celebrate the good men, who are so tenderly inclined toward their women.

Excellent poem! The book's forum is the best online bulletin board I've ever seen, too. Your seeds are sound, my friend, growing good fruit everywhere, including in my heart. The Shack rocked my world, and thank you.

REALLY good poem, too!

I've been there. And today I saw a baby not much older than a year sitting in a shopping cart, no mother in sight. It seems the plight of a lot of people from all age ranges and all walks of life. It sort of made me hate shopping, all those feelings of "Will I see my mom again?" and "Why'd she have to go so far away and not even notice I wasn't with her?"

I really like your structure, too.
