Before expressing this comment, I would like to say that my mother tongue is french. I read the french book's translation. By reading thoses lines, be advised that my tought may appears unclear. Translation is not always an easy process.

Your book is a stunning way to talk about God Love. It touched me to see how much God loves everything he made, including me, and it brought me some good. However there are many aspects of God person that were put aside in the book, specially those which we would not want to hear. There are many places in the scriptures were it is said that God express some wrath with long lasting consequences. (ex. Heb 4). In this passage, it is said that the wrath of God against a specific generation made them finish their lives in the desert. One could imagine that by experiencing this judgment, this people could have access in some redemption, but Heb. 4 use that example precisely to say that it a way to be lost forever. It is said in so many places in the scriptures that God wrath exists, and God jalousy also. What the book's story missed to demonstrate is that there a very good reasons that God have to be so angry at us sometimes. Right, man's wrath must not be confused with God's one. Some day I was trying to honestly understand how come God could have so much wrath against the world. The same night I witness on TV a murder of an innocent war reporter that seems to be without motive. Then I was in anger against this evil world and I started to understand that God witnessed such scenes continously since the beginning of the creation. So God wrath exists.

Having half of God's person description, even if this half seems to me a very beautiful, made me very perplex about giving a reading recommandation to my brothers and sisters if it makes them forget some aspects of God's person.

So why this aspect of God life was put aside in this story?

For sure one day God wrath will be gone, and living with him a such proximity (or relationship to use your book words) will be very great (it makes me think that nothing forbids to experiment this proximity now, because his son experimented it on earth).

Most remarkable conversions were preceded by a deep sin conciousness, followed by a clear and profound conviction of being lost and desesperate, and then folowed by an unexpected reveleation of God's love in Jesus. I use the "revelation" word in it's direct and miraculous sense, as it is described by those who witnessed their experience as something that they could not imagine. The grace means something for the one who realize how deeply bad are the consequence of his sins. God's love means more for those who knows their need to be forgiven as this women who cried at the feets of Jesus.

It would be bad if some would use your book as their sole and complete vision of God's person. We know that this book teaches a lot about God without using a real story. There is something missing there.. My fear is that this could be a fullfilment of what it is said in 2Tim4:3-4.

It seems a great book to talk about God's love in action, but this is not all God. Why not, because of his love for his creature, God doesn't want retribution for evil made too. God's love appeal is marvelous, but man has only one live to answer for it.

Oh my goodness, Karen, you took the words right out of my mouth. Mr. Young, your book has spoken to me like no other. I have been on a spiritual journey for some time now, and no matter what religion or belief that I have studied, Jesus has brought me back home. Your book has answered my very questions and I found my tears streaming with the revelations that I had always hoped for. Thank you God/Jesus/Holy Spirit for revealing yourself through Mr. Young. Thank you, Thank you,Thank you. I am telling everyone I know, to read the book. I am buying it for my sister and my daughters and I am reading it over and over to make sure that I never forget the love that God has for me. Bless you! PS: I also love your website with the continuation of your conversations with God and the wonderful comments from those who are touched!

Paul - As SO many above have attested to, this work is almost beyond belief!!! (In a good way!!) What an inspired breath from our Father! What a literary gift from Papa!! How FUN to see how The Word loves to communicate freshly and within His revealed Word via one of His "Fond ones" - you. As a physician and father of 8 children, I have my own story, agony, intense searching, etc. I work in the artery of human suffering as an ER doc. This book, this love-gift from the Lord has blown into the shack in my heart and I am looking forward to Father continuing to speak to me because of it.
PLEASE do not get in any way impeded by the neg comments you hear. Those are such a confirmation of the TRUTH communicated by the Lord via this work to all who have ears and HEARTS to hear!!!
Thank you for venturing out in obedience, even if Papa looked like your wife there for a minute!!! ....wink...grin!!!

I read the Shack and all I can say is, I'm undone! It was so powerful for me that I could not read the last several chapters in one setting! I had to read a chapter, weep, put the book down and meditate and come back the next day. Again, I am undone! Thanks to you.

Jesus told His truths in parables, so that they could be more easily understood. I think that this storytelling is the modern version of the parable.

Wow Wow Wow.. This is so powerful to be this personal and one with God and not feel judged or condemed, to be free in who you are in His love. I have believed this in my life that Jesus isn't religious,He did not come for the righteous, that His will is to be personal not congregational. That God the Father took the human race full circle. From Him to make man to make women to make God is amazing. Why? Because of His love and wanting to be with us, who He made but could not become one of us. Until Jesus!!! Jesus not only saved the human race by being a once and for all sacrifice, but this allowed God to become one of us. This book put so many things in perspective for me. I have told everyone about how liberating this is. God has shown me how much Jesus loves and admires women, how meaningful the relationship is to Him and the reasons why. Now, I see not only Jesus but God loves and values women, He originates that value and love for women. He picked women to birth His son. I can understand that He has come full circle with us and for us. I love how Elousia was God, totally redefines our image of God, for the purpose of seeing His true HEART not the image we have been taught. We have been taught how mean and vindictive He is. He gets even to punish us. I never believed it for myself, that is not the GOD I serve and never will be. I know many people who serve that God who is so full of revenge and punishment. That is scary to me to want to serve that kind of God. Why ? I was so taken back by the simplicity of the Trinity, how hard do we as humans make it? We have so many rules, laws, and regulations to follow. Yet this makes it so much simplier. Just to love Him and be loved by Him and let Him in your daily life is all He wants and we should want. How simple even for a child which both of mine did at a very young ages came to the Lord, in such a open, simple, loving way. I really saw myself in the judgement part of setting myself up as God towards others. I consider myself very tolerant and forgiving, but really felt I needed to stop being judge. Thank You, Thank You, for this deepth into our hearts and of God's heart and of another way to look at His love for us. Love and Peace be with you. Jodee

This is the most amazing book I have ever read. My father was a Lutheran minister. So, I grew up with a lot of "religion". In my twenties, I started having a lot of doubts, esp.since my husband and I went to the most conservative branch of Lutheranism where doubts were considered "heretical". So I kept quiet (mostly), but still went to church.
Then in my late forties, I developed fibromyalgia, a very painful neuromuscular disorder and, it took years to find some good doctors. I couldn't understand why I was "chosebn" to have this. After all, I had always been a good person, hadn't I? I did come to understand, through Bernie Siegel's books, that this was just a "randon" event, but I didn't fully believe it. Part of me still believed that I was being "punished".
I stopped going to church altogether and became an agnostic. BUT, this book has renewed my faith. I can believe in God, etc., love them as presented in this book. I am going to make a study of this book and take notes.
Thank you so much for this wonderful book Willie.
