I just read lisaard's post about her son. My four children are still seeking. I met Paul at the Oregon Christian Writer's conference and shared the scripture I've been leaning on: "Who can resist the will of the Lord?" Paul's reply has strengthened my faith even more: "Who can resist the love of the Lord?" I'm thankful that we serve such a faithful, loving and powerful God.

My mother in-law offered me “The Shack” as a gift in June of 2009 for my birthday. I read the first two chapters a month later and did not pick up the book again until yesterday. I stayed up last night (3/14/2010), reading it until 2:30 a.m. I started reading it again this morning around 8:30 a.m. and finished reading it this morning at 10:45 a.m. I realized why I waited to read this book. I believe God wanted me to wait until I can better understand Sarayu and to send me the message to seek her.
About a month ago, my oldest daughter told me about the following dream she had:
She, my husband and I were working at her school. Some of the parents and teachers threw "bombs" at me and I was caught on fire. She and her father ran breathlessly to a nearby water fountain to get water, but no water was found. An angel came down and asked them “to blow” at me. As they and the angel blew at me, the fire subsided and finally stopped.
Lately, I have been angry at God while seeking His presence with all my heart, aching to have a close relationship Him and hopelessly waiting for a sign from Him. I want to believe that finally deciding to read your book yesterday at that very moment, after I had it all this time is His way of reaching out to me and answering some of my questions. You stated in your welcome page on your blog that, “ I hope that someday we can share a cup of coffee, or for me, an extra hot chai tea with soy. If that happens, and if you want, I will tell you a little more about the bigger story and you can tell me some of yours”.
I am dying to learn more about the “bigger story” and I hope you can help me fill up my life with verbs.

I read the shack two months ago in the year of 2010. This book is so memorable. It was very nice that a man had met the shack in different scenes with garden, cave, and the spring season. However, the changes have made through the ending on winter season like in the beginning in which Mackenzie had suffered pains, but his sorrows will be forgotten. Mostly, it was sad.

I wish I would have a brother named Mack because I want him to agree with everyone in my family, especially God.

This story brings me back into my old homes.

I read the shack a few days ago and had been told by many at our church that this was a must read,that it just opens us up to a better understanding of our relationship with God. WOW I loved every page of it. I read it in five hours,I just could not put it down.
Thank you all of you who came up with the publishing company and for having a wonderful insight that the world at large should read this book. I am passing it on and ordering copies soon for some family members.
I was also sent a horrible review of this book by someone who had never even read it, and that made me want to read it all the more.I knew I would be saddened and delighted and laughing all in the space of mere minutes and I was in no way let down.

I'm eighteen years old and I'm not a very religious person and, besides the positive comments that I heard about it, that's why I refused to read your book for so long... But now that I did, I needed to congratulate you for the sweetest version of God that I ever saw... but, before the congratulations, I need to thank you... Thank you for touching my heart so deeply as myself was there in the shack with God... and after the warm smiles and the crying that the book cause on me, my relationship with God can develop easier now...

I truly loved this book. My son was lost in the woods in Acworth, georgia when he was only eight years old all night long. He followed a creek and somehow took the wrong turn. I never thought we'de see him again but miraculously my husband, friends, neighbors and a rescue team found him and his friend Kyle, 5 miles from where he took off , with no shirt, some water shoes,a bathing suit, and a backpack on his back ,safe without a scratch on his body. He believed the Angels were taking care of him, and he slept on a rock near a cliff over the creek with a huge waterfall. I believe this was a miracle, but now my son is 22 and he is still lost in the woods. He is in rehab now and has been for almost 8 months, and I have gone through so many tears, I can't even count them all. My faith really began to dwindle as I kept asking God Why did this have to happen to my sweet little boy?? I read this book, and I can really relate to how we have to learn to put our trust in God completely, learn to forgive but not forget, and face our struggles, not alone but with the Father, Son, & Holy Ghost guiding us every step of our lives. I can relate to Mack in so many ways. This book was by far the most simplistic definition of God and Love. It had to be divinely inspired because I cannot imagine a human being able to fathom the power, grace and love. How?... Words are just an insult to how this book made me feel. Indescribable! To: The Creators...God has to be quite fond of you to have allowed you to orchestrate a group of like minds and birth such a gift to me and the world! I'm looking forward to that cup of Chai Tea with you! This made into a Movie would shake this NOUN of a world we have and catapult it into becoming a VERB!

The Shack, no doubt, was the best book I ever read in my entire life. I just read it and I'm still with the heart controlled not to cry. The story is exciting and touched me deeply. I strongly believe that all this is true. After all, who would invent it and put God in a humiliating situation? Will follow the advice of the book, made clear what he meant to me and the decisions that I have to take with respect to my next relationship, which wants them to be. The presence of God is inevitable, and after this book I learned, among thousands of other teachings, that God is always beside us to help us. Aconte what the world was caused by the domain we carry each other, the power, independence. God can prevent it, but do not want. He is a good Father, let us proceed with our choices, from Adam. I was touched by the story of Missy and what I can to help, I will.

My dear friend bought this book for me. Just finished reading the shack and my favorite part - "I want to be at the center of everything. When I live in you, then together we can live through everything that happens to you. Rather than the top of a pyramid, I want to be the center of a mobile, where everything in your life - your friends, family, occupation, thoughts, activities-back and forth, in an incredible dance of being."
So beautifully put - you put into words, truths that are so hard to express. I have listened to Andrew Wommack www.awmi.net for many years and this book is an expression for what he has been teaching for many more years than I have been listening to him.
I was surprised to see the picture of a dandelion with seeds blowing in the wind on your website. Interestly, Andrew Wommack has been opening his TV series each day with dandelion seeds blowing in the wind. In short , it represents all the free tapes and teachings he gave away. Someone on his staff was disturbed that he would give away his tapes so freely to anyone that asked. She was jogging one day when God showed her the benefit. She saw many seeds laying by the roadside never to take root. She told God that was just like Andrew giving away tapes. People wouldn't value them and they would be tossed aside. But then God told her to look at the field, where she saw hundreds of dandelions flourishing.
Your book is like those dandelion seeds, planting in our hearts, the realization the God is especially fond of us!

All that my heart and being has sensed lo these many years of my life...all that my longings have cried out for to be true and to believe in, and even more importantly, have FAITH in as not only being possible but in fact real about a personal relationship with the Trinity of God, have been expressed so simply, so eloquently, and so clearly in The Shack.

I may see but dimly with human eyes yet my heart knows the glowing truths hidden in plain sight within the words of this book, because as a father who lost a beloved and loving daughter to sudden death in 2002 I've BEEN to The Shack! And truth be told, it really was tucked deep into the darkest depths of the spiritually war-torn and towering mountain ranges of my own unspeakable grief and loss of the soul.

And just as described in this wonderful metaphor of a story, it was there at my own Shack that I was given one of the many proofs of God's great love and abiding presence with us in our times of deep trouble. He gave me a gift of words to be able to write my way through the agony of pain and disbelief to find my own place of personal healing about my loss and with Him. I'm so grateful I listened to those whispers of the heart that led to my own freedoms of the soul with my Creator, much as Mack was at the end of his own journey.

Thanks for being open to the way you were given to write this story Paul. It resonates and shines with the beauty of those simple yet powerful truths of the human experience that emerge when a real relationship with God is invited and entered into.

I have just finished reading your book and have passed it on to one of the gals that I work with. I have to tell you that once I started reading it it was hard to put down. What a wonderful book ... between crying and laughing and wondering what it would really be like to have lunch with Jesus ... OH MY ... What a wonderful experience that would be.

I am a fifty-two year old woman who is in recovery. The shack has brought me so much healing. It also brings questions. I was raised with an angry God. I am trying so hard to change my perceptions. I know I am so loved by my Papa, but the old tapes of rejection and disapproval play on. I've bought over twenty copies of this book and give it to other hurting women. The stories I have heard of forgiveness and healing are pretty amazing.

I´ve just finished to read "The Shack". I really want that this story is real.
All the thought is like I believe in God and the Criation.

“The shack” is more than a beautiful book, but it has something new and important to say – for me, specially, that religion experience may be a living subject, and so really relevant and important to everyone’s lives.

Let me tell you something: Even if someone is not religious, but is in a search to a special meaning to life, and is willing to better understand the universal love rules... Well, even someone like me will be delighted to read this beautiful tale of love and wisdom.

It was given to me as a gift, by a very dear friend and elder. We witness in each others lives, many miracles, if we open our eyes, ears and hearts. Facing the impossible becomes tangible, learning to trust, laughing amidst pain and suffering, letting Gods love in....

I just finished The Shack. Let me start by saying that my co-workerss told me they loved the book, but I needed to be aware that it could test my religious beliefs. Interesting, since my religious beliefs aren't really "religious", so I read waiting to be challenged. Instead, I read the book as if I was reading my own philosophies on believing, and I wished I had been like Mack and actually had these experiences to share. I love this book. I want to re-read it this very moment. I cannot imagine that it would ever test someone's beliefs...if they are true believers in the power of God and what it is that we are to accomplish in life.

Hi Paul - just finished the book and it is a good feeling, reminding me of my grandma who used to tell the truth in a similar way - I'm glad to find it again! Being a teacher in religious studies this is the way I want to present faith and Christ. But I haven't figured out how yet, living in hypersecular Sweden! I am thinking about reading a new book that I caught on Lifestream called Bo's Cafe. Any reviews on this one?

I have heard so many fundamentalist christians slam this book and while I was visiting friends in Seattle I confronted a few of them who are my friends and I explained that this book is for the profound hurting people who have had extreme tragadies hit them that the God we know from the bible doesn't answer the WHY of it but the shack gives us a glimpse of a God that Loves us enough to have someone like Paul write this alegorie(sorry about the spelling) but you get what I mean. We who read this know that it's a story but It helps us to finally realize that God is with us and loves us but bad things are going to happen in this world but that doesn't stop Him from loving us. This book is for the people who didn't grow up in a world were life went as planned, good childhood and fairley good adult life. This is for those of us who have had horrendus child abuse and or lots of tragedies in their adult life and need answers. I think those who slammed this book do so because they feel threaten some how by this God that we are finding through this book.

Hi there, just wanted to leave you a quick note. About 5 min. ago I finish reading 'The Shack' ..... words fail me. Just long for you to know that the wrinkle in the water or air -by wind full of rumors- for that matter ;-) keeps going and going. Moving further along it's path. I'm thankful for having a friend in my life who gave me this incredible book. As I already 'knew' and experianced on a daily bases, so much of the things that happend to Mack, again it's like a dream is comming true. How wonderful it is to read about exactly what I feel, smell, hear and opening my heart for.
I'm blessed my heart is touched with the wonderful words you've put down for Mack to share with all Gods creatures.

Hmmmm, there are no accidents. Thank you very much for this book. As a child attending parochial school, I can recall thinking to myself, "Something about this (dogma) just isn't right to me." For years as a young adult I struggled and searched for a church, religion or spiritual path that I could feel connected with. I came close a few times, but became frustrated with the folks who wanted to be told what to believe. After reading many books, searching out my own feelings on the topic, and having a powerfully spiritual experience where I felt Jesus was with me sharing his love, I came to realize that the relationship we have with God (or whomever we call him/her) is a personal one. To me that's intimate and beautiful. Imagine a world where everyone connects with their "Papa" as Mack did. There are so many reasons why people don't, won't or can't...yet. I've been distracted by my own life challenges lately. Reading your book provided the reminder I needed as well as the confirmation of the relationship I feel I have with God. When I disconnect (for whatever reason) from my "Papa", he/she is always patiently waiting for me when I come back. (I should have remembered that!) And the relationship continues as I trust, stay open, and grow into the love.

I have read the Shack several times over and each time am surprised by the tears - tears of joy, pain, and healing! It saddens me when I read reports by Christian leaders in the world who, without ever reading the book, rip it to shreds! I have never read such a raw depiction of God before and I can only hope that the spark catches a Holy Fire, spreading through the Body! Thank you so much for Wind Rumors and The Shack! I keep bringing out my copy of THE SHACK and re-reading parts to ponder and reflect on them. The book has touched me and helped me to get in touch with my feelings about Jesus and God.
I have been overwhelmed with burdens in the past year...my husband dealing with several debilatating medical conditions, then losing his job after 20 yrs with them, having to use our 401K to pay off the ever-mounting medical and other bills, now trying to keep from losing our home and become homeless, and now dealing with a new diagnosis of my husband a week ago with frontal lobe dementia (he is only 54). I continue to try to have faith, but like Mack, I sometimes say WHY?
The book helps. It does not solve our problems, but helps me to try to get through them and see good in each day.
I saw Paul speak here in a retirement home in Oregon City and was so touched and moved.
Thank you for entering my life at a time I needed the book. God brought us together.
