It took me over 3 weeks to read the Shack. (I usually read at least 2 books per week and I was on vacation when my sister handed the Shack to me on the beach). I found that I could only absord 3 or 4 pages at one time. The profound richness of Mack's encounter with the One Triune God also drew me into an encounter with Our Holy God. Sometimes I just had to dwell in the love and mercy poured out for us as person-gift - I just wanted to consume and be consumed in God's personal mystery - Papa truly shattered all stereotypes and preconceived notions about person and in doing this revealed the personal glory of our neighbor as much as it expressed God's personality. Your story caused me to live that truth with my whole family on vacation in response to the manner by which Papa drew Mack ever deeper into God's really real reality. Through your story, I saw how God sees you, but I also saw how God sees me and every human person he ever created or ever will create. His Infinite and Eternal Love is the full measure of our personal worth that no man can bestow or deprive us of - The full value of that personal worth has been restored to us through the infinite mercies of the precious blood of Jesus gushing forth on the whole world from his pierced side - Our union with the Divine Bridegroom was consummated in the covenant of His blood at the foot of the cross, yet to be lived among us in Love for God but also love for neighbor in the manner of total self-giving and self-forgetfulness in the seemingly mundane ordinariness of life's daily grind- The Shack reminds us of the Human Face of God visibly manifested in the incarnation of the 2nd divine person, Jesus Christ and given without reserve through his passion, death and resurrection through which he restored us to even greater than the full value of our original personal worth to God. The ordinary is only the exterior veil shielding from idle view the extraodinary - we are called to participate daily in the truly miraculous through our relationships with both God and man. "God is Love" as John the Evangelist tells us - what else is there? Thank you for sharing your story and bearing your soul through the creation of your characters - Your bears witness to a paradoxical truth - the experiece of God is both wholly unique and personal, yet utterly universal - We follow the WAY, the TRUTH, and the LIFe - the GoD-Man into the very heart of God! I praise and thank God for your gift to the world and I pray for you in your mission. God bless.

Ah, the beauty of ambiguity. A true postmodernist's delight. People's tolerance for ambiguity is a worthwhile phenomenon to observe. Some are just able "to live within the questions" while others are not. I guess this is why we usually get two very different reads of "the Shack" depending on people's perspective and said tolerance. Paul Y's unique and imaginative take is an articulation for those questions that many of us struggle with on a daily basis. See you soon, Paul, for you talk at King College/Buechner Institute. I will be your ride for the early flight home!
Best,
amr

Loved the story! I am a Roman Catholic who has been so disillusioned with the Catholic Church and although my faith has been challenged my belief in God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit came to life in The Shack. There were tears for not only what Mack was living but some of the parallels I could see in my own daily life. Thank you.

I truly felt at lost after reading The Shack...I felt that I no longer had a dialogue with the Trinity...I did come to grips with myself & hopefully I too can comfortably talk with my spiritual Father at anytime & anyplace.
Sounds like you have the making of another great book & super read.....Thank You for sharing your pearls of wisdom with me. Jeanne

Your book was a wonder, beautiful, healing and hopeful. People that need to be right, need to put God in a box, don't get it. Thank you for expanding our view of God.

Such an amazing story. Thank you for your obedience in writing this and sharing with the world. Though you state this is a fiction, it sincerely spoke to my Spirit and I was blessed. I feel enlightened and encouraged to connect to the Trinity on a more simple and personal level without the 'rules' but with anticipation of joy and fulfillment. I plan on having everyone I love read this book.
